If you ever need to see a gp or nurse you can always phone early that morning and get to see someone staff are always friendly and helpful
It pains me to have to write this but I find that one or two of the receptionists come across as rude, cold and abrupt. It leaves the patient's feeling upset and frustrated. It is also very difficult to get an appointment. I am really disappointment.
I think the doctors are fantastic at the surgery. However its proving more and more harder to get an appointment. I am assuming that this is because people that do not attend appointment do not bother to cancel. Also doctors are leaving the profession and more and more people are moving into the area as more houses/flats are being built. In the last 3/4 years I have been disappointed by the receptionists as I found some of them quite rude. However recently I have noticed a big change. I have found most of them helpful when you speak to them face to face and most of the time quite polite and helpful on the phone (this however is not always the case). I think for a while Studholme did go downhill a bit and I did seriously think about moving myself and my family else where but as already stated the doctors are fantastic. Recently I have seen there has been a shift in attitude by the reception staff. They seem eager to help, polite and I have noticed that they are under pressure as they are trying to fit so many patients in one day. I find though it can be very difficult to get in touch by phone but then it maybe because so many patients are trying to get through. I think the NHS are under pressure and as patients we now need to be sensible when we seek medical help. We maybe need to get advice from the chemist before we approach GPs and A & E. The biggest suggestion I can make is - get more staff to answer the phones and get more phone lines available. Also for the receptionists many times I call and the phone can ring over 50/60 times and no one answers the phone. Also if the receptionist that meets and greets patients has to leave the front desk - someone else needs to step in or help at busy periods. Sometimes there is no one there and the ladies that work on the computers behind simple carry on chatting away and ignore the patients and its very frustrating and comes across as being rude.
Lovely, helpful surgery. The only comments I have are: the telephone lines are sometimes dreadful and the receptionist can't understand whatever is being said on the other line and, sometimes it's very difficult to get an appointment. Otherwise, I am very happy with the surgery.
The automated telephone appointment system is annoying, so I try to avoid it now. I keep hold until I speak to a receptionist - or pop into the surgery.
The website is great for repeat prescriptions - very easy.
